Rimini, city of history and art
Rimini was founded in the Roman Age. Outstanding monuments of great value bear witness to the citys glorious past vicissitudes. The citys most representative landmark is the impressive Arch of Augustus, that was erected almost two thousand years ago.
Not to be missed is the imposing thirteenth-century Malatesta Temple, that contains precious artworks of great value. Other attractions worthy of mention are Piazza Cavour and its popular Fontana della Pigna, the latter being designed in the sixteenth century, and the nearby Vecchia Pescheria, that was once the seat of the citys fish market.
The picturesque village of Borgo San Giuliano is embellished by enchanting artistic murals. Permeated with its own fascinating history, it was repeatedly celebrated by the famous films directed by Federico Fellini. San Giuliano is connected with Riminis city centre by the ancient Tiberius Bridge, and it is situated a short distance from the citys New Basin, that can be reached easily walking along the beach or the sea front.
